Made it to Key Largo

We pumped the head (toilet) and left Bill Biggs State Park around 7:30 a.m. because we were concerned about rain and choppy waters.  We traveled about 40 miles today from Key Biscayne to Key Largo.  30 miles of it we were going 30+ miles per hour.  A little nerve wracking at first, but once we were on plane it was pretty cool.  Waters were pretty calm.  Fueled up and got water.  We are anchored outside of Gilbert Marina/Restaurant/Bar tonight.

We first tried to anchor across from Gilbert where a few other boats were already anchored.  The place that required a front and back anchor.  We started drifting and almost ended in the mangroves with the depth meter saying 2.4 feet..... yikes.  We moved and are anchored with just a front anchor and are not drifting.  We even saw a dolphin surface not far from our starboard side.

We decided to take the dinghy into Gilberts for an appetizer and a few drinks.  Best hot wings we have ever had.  It's like the chickens were on steroids.... lol.  They were huge!

We met some Miami locals who gave us tons of restaurant/bar ideas in Marathon and Islamorada.  The one couple even offered us their slip to dock for free for a few nights in Marathon.  We might take them up on it if we can find it.  They also had a dog that looked ALOT like Charlie.  She loved drinking beer from the bottle... it was pretty cute!

Tomorrow we are docking in Largo Sound.  We might try snorkeling in John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, but we have to find a snorkel flag to display on the boat first.

In Key Biscayne leaving Miami, Miami Beach, and South Beach.
Wake was pretty awesome.

Goes from wide open water to buoyed channels.

I found this sign funny.
We walked up this road and kept watching for crocs, but didn't see any.

Photo of us with boat in the background.
I forgot to change the photo type so the boat is out of focus.... oh well.  I
will try for another one in the next few days.

Enjoying a yummy cocktail!

Puppy that looked like Charlie and she loved beer!
