Better Late Than Never!

So my last post left off with a blow tire and another 3 flat tires on the trailer.  So that's  4 flat tires in total and two bent rims!! We bought six new tires.  Apparently, when the tire blew it bent two axels, damaged the fender, and ripped out the brake wiring, and a few other things I can't remember. Corps is thinking we hit something? Who knows.

We spent most of the day yesterday on the phone with Nicole from Progressive.  My November 19 post mentioned that Progressive's road side assistance was a joke.  Yesterday, Nicole called out of the blue and apologized for their terrible service and was super helpful in starting the claim process.

So we drove the last 300+ miles and arrived in Dania Beach last night.

Today was a busy day.  Started with getting groceries and at Publix.  Then we put the boat in the water with no problems.  Next we dropped off the truck and trailer for repairs at American RV and Marine.  I had my doubts this would work out as well as it sounded over the phone, but it went so smoothly.  Then tried Uber for the first time to get back to the marina.... another success!  We fueled up at the marina and off we went!  Corp got his first experience dealing with a really large cargo ship. Check out the cargo ship in the background.

Corp getting ready to fuel the boat.  We usually fuel up off the water because its cheaper, but the truck stop we stopped at last night was super shady and didn't have the 90 octane that we need.

We made it to Miami Beach in about 3 hours.  On the way we saw a 4 foot iguana swimming in the water.  Its kinda hard to see, but its in the upper 2/3 of the photo.  Man it was swimming fast!  I bet we will never see that again!

We are anchored in Downtown Miami Beach off the Collins Canal for the next few days.  Quick and easy dinghy ride into land...a block from Lincoln Town Mall.

Here is our view.

We plan to explore Miami Beach tomorrow by foot and then by bike on Thursday.  We bought folding bikes for this year's trip.  Corps said no more death marches like last year.  One day we walked almost 10 miles in 90 degree heat.... he said never again!  Getting these bikes in the dinghy is going to be something to see.  Looking forward to biking on the 20+ miles of beach trail that's in the area.

Life is good!  After the last three travel days with headaches, we are glad to finally be on vacation!
